STREAMING AV
SMP 351
H.264 Streaming Media Processor
The SMP351 is a high performance streaming and recording processor for capturing and
distributing AV sources and presentations as live streaming or recorded media. Featuring up
to five inputs, the SMP351 allows users to create high‑impact presentations by combining
two high resolution signals, a background image, and metadata into dynamic layouts. With
Extron’s FlexOS operating system, the SMP 351 is highly adaptable to new requirements
using installable control applications. A comprehensive combination of signal processing,
streaming, recording, and control features make the SMP351 integration‑friendly, easy to
control and operate. Requiring no licensing fees, the SMP351 has a low cost of ownership
making it a cost‑effective solution for delivering presentations to a wider audience.
High Resolution AV Processing
The SMP 351 combines two high resolution video signals selected from up to five available
sources with mixed audio, a PNG background image, and metadata into a single blended
output. High quality scaling and two‑window processing supports flexible source presentation
in picture‑in‑picture or picture‑by‑picture arrangements at resolutions up to 1080p/30. Select
from up to sixteen customizable layouts from the front panel or an external control system.
Flexible Recording and Streaming
The SMP 351 can record and stream simultaneously. It creates MP4 (M4V) media files that
can be saved to the internal 80 GB solid state storage, an external USB drive, or a defined
network storage directory. The SMP 351 can stream at two resolutions concurrently,
supporting overflow or streaming distribution applications using high to medium bit rates,
or confidence viewing using low bit rates. A range of streaming protocols are available to
support different streaming configurations and network conditions.
Integration for Presentation and Recording Workows
The SMP 351 offers advanced signal processing and control features, which simplify
management in presentation systems and recording workflows. Schedules can be entered
manually or automatically updated using the iCalendar file format. Encoding and recording
presets simplify configuration and management from a control system. An HDMI output
presents a preview of the blended source layout with audio that is streamed and recorded.
Content Management and Playback Options
The SMP 351 produces MP4 (M4V) media files, which are compatible with virtually any media
player software and popular content management systems. It integrates directly with the
Opencast Matterhorn lecture capture management system, and process impromptu recording
sessions using Extron’s Streaming Content Manager – SCM software.
