1. Disconnect power. If the VSC 150 will be rack mounted, attach it to the rack.
2. Connect the local monitor’s input connector to the like (Mac or VGA) rear panel connector.
If no local monitor is used, set the 75 ohm DIP switch to On, or install a termination adapter.
3. Using the Mac-VGA cable, connect the computer’s video output to the other connector.
For Macintosh, plug the VGA 15-pin HD end into the VSC 150;
plug the other (15-pin D) end into the computer’s video output connector.
For a VGA-type PC, plug the Mac 15-pin D end into the VSC 150;
plug the other (15-pin HD) end into the computer’s video output connector.
4. Set the PAL Out (PAL/NTSC output) DIP switch. On = PAL, Off = NTSC.
5. Connect the composite video output device (projector, monitor, VCR) to the Video output connector. Composite video output is always available.
6. Select the format of the second output: set the output selection toggle switch for S-video, RGB video or component video.
7. Connect the second video output device to the appropriate rear panel output connector(s).
Connect cables for only one output
in addition to the composite video
output. Do not connect cables
to outputs that are
not used for that
application.
Connecting
cables to more
outputs will
overload the
circuits and yield
weak signals.
8. Connect power cords, and turn
on all the equipment.
9. Set up the RS-232 controller
and/or the genlock devices.
See the VSC 150 User's
Manual for details.
WARNING
is a computer-to-video scan converter that converts a computer video signal into two display outputs – composite video
and one of the following: • S-video, • component video, or • RGB video (RGBHV or RGBS) – for simultaneous output on two separate
devices. All of the outputs are NTSC/PAL. This scan converter accepts one Macintosh or VGA computer input of a resolution up to 1152 x 900
and provides a local monitor loop-out on the other (VGA or Macintosh) “input” connector. The VSC 150 offers genlocking to allow exact
synchronization with other devices.
These controls do not affect the local monitor output. They only affect the display outputs (labeled "Outputs" on the rear panel).
Power/signal lock LED ( )Lights amber to indicate power is present but an input signal is not. Blinks green when input signal resolution is too
low or high, or while receiving commands from an IR 60 remote control. Lights green when the input signal is within range.
Freeze controlCauses the display video (composite video and either S-video, component or RGB video) outputs to display a still image.
Horizontal (Horz), Vertical (Vert) and Encoder filtering controlsControl the level and type of filtering applied to the scan converted image.
Press each button to select between the available filtering levels. Choose the level that yields the best picture detail. The LEDs to the right of
each control indicate the current selections.
Size controlActivates the Size feature so the picture can be resized and "zoomed" using the vertical and horizontal Centering/Pan/Size rotary
controls. The LED above the Size control lights when Size is active.
Vertical ( ) and horizontal ( ) Centering/Pan/Size rotary controlsAdjust centering and panning in regular mode, and they adjust the
size when Size mode is active. When the minimum or maximum sizing or centering limits of these controls are reached, the Min/Max LED lights.
Burst Lock (genlock) LED Lights green to indicate that the VSC 150 is receiving a genlock (black burst) sync signal via the rear panel Genlock
In connector. If this LED does not light when genlock is active, either further phase adjustment is needed, or a different, time base-corrected sync
signal must be used for the genlock source.
Horizontal phase (Horz Phase) and subcarrier phase (Sub Phase) controls Align the horizontal and color subcarrier phases of the
composite video output sync signal and the genlock signal during genlock setup. See the VSC 150 User's Manual for details.
Executive mode (Freeze + Size) Locks all features except centering controls to prevent adjustment via front panel controls or IR remote. Press
the Freeze control and Size control simultaneously for 2 seconds to activate or deactivate Executive mode. All adjustments can be performed via
RS-232 control while Executive mode is active.
