7. Operations
Working with Frame Grabs
Captured frames reside in temporary memory. If the system is powered down or
reset, the frames will be lost. To save frames in permanent memory, refer to the
"
Saving Frames in Permanent Memory" section on page 336.
Only "saved" frames can be named.

Use the following steps to save a captured frame into permanent memory.
1. Capture a frame as outlined in the previous two sections.
~ "Capturing Frames from a Background or DSK Input" on page 334.
~ "Capturing Frames from a Layer" on page 335.
2. On the Frame Grab Menu, use the Frame Number line to select the frame that
you wish to save.
3. Press {SAVE} to save the captured frame into a storage register. Remember that
three registers are available in standard systems, and 100 registers are available
in "ES" systems.
~ In standard systems, the Frame Save Menu appears.
Press
YES to save the frame. All front panel controls will be
locked for up to three minutes.
Press
NO to cancel the procedure.
~ In "ES" systems, the Extended Frame Save Menu appears.
•In the
Saved Location field, select a memory location (1 - 100).
(Optional) In the
New Name field, type a new name. Ensure
that a PS/2 keyboard is properly connected to the Controller’s
Keyboard port.
Press {
SAVE} to save the selected frame. All front panel
controls will be locked for up to three minutes.
4. Repeat the procedure to save additional frames.
Warning
Do not execute the next step during live production. All
controls will be locked during the "save" process. Always try
to save your frames during pre-production.
Note
Remember that you can always overwrite a frame in
permanent memory.
