PRELIMINARY
Muting and unmuting audio/RS-232 outputs
Individual audio or RS-232 outputs can be muted or unmuted as follows:

Audio/RS-232 mutes are protected when front panel Lock mode 2 is selected.
You can view the status of the audio output (muted or unmuted) in Lock mode 2
but you cannot change it from the front panel. See “Setting the front panel locks
(Executive modes)”
on page 3-40.

. Press the Esc button to clear any input LEDs, output LEDs, or control LEDs
that are lit.

. Press and release the View button.
3. One at a time, press and hold the output button(s) for the desired output(s)
for approximately 2 seconds. The output LED(s) for the selected output(s)
blink to indicate the mute or return to their previous state to indicate the
unmute.

. Press and release the View button to return to normal switcher operation.

without ties.
• Mutesaresavedtonon-volatilememory.Whenpowerisremovedand
restored, the mute settings are retained.
Example 5: Muting and unmuting an audio or RS-232 output
In the following example, a matrix switcher audio or RS-232 output is muted and
unmuted. The steps show the front panel indications that result from your actions.

. PressandreleasetheEscbutton(gure3-28).

Press the Esc button to clear all selections.
The LED
blinks once.

2. Press and release the View button to enter View-only mode. The View LED
lights.

. To select audio (or RS-232) for viewing and muting, if necessary, press and
release the Audio button (figure 3-29).
