5. Connect the other end of the power cord to an AC power outlet.
Warning
Always be sure that the source outlet is properly grounded before plugging the AC power
cord into the AC power supply.
Caution
Make sure that the AC power supply circuit is not overloaded. Use proper overcurrent
protection, such as a circuit breaker, to prevent overcurrent conditions.
Installing an EPS-LD External Power Supply
The EPS-LD power supply can be mounted in a rack or placed free-standing on a table.
You can position the EPS-LD facing either the front or the back of the rack. For this reason, each unit
has two sets of mounting holes on each side. Extreme Networks recommends that you position the
EPS-LD so that the power output connectors on the EPS-LD unit are on the same side as the external
connector on the connecting switch.
Caution
Do not use the rack-mount brackets to suspend the EPS-LD from under a table or desk, or to
attach the unit to a wall.
Note
An AC power cord is not provided with the EPS-LD power supply. See Power Cord
Requirements for AC-Powered Switches and AC Power Supplies on page 653 for information
about selecting a power cord.
Rack-mount the EPS-LD Power Supply
Note
When installing an EPS-LD in a rack, make sure air vents are not restricted. Allow for elevated
ambient operating temperatures when the EPS-LD is installed adjacent to other equipment.
Be sure you mount the equipment in the rack so that the load is evenly distributed.
To rack-mount each EPS-LD unit in a 19-inch rack:
1. Place the EPS-LD unit upright on a stable surface, with the side you want to face to the front of the
switch toward you.
2. Remove the mounting bracket kit from the packaging.
3. Attach the mounting brackets as follows:
a. Place a mounting bracket over the mounting holes on one side of the unit (see the figure below).
