17 Portable and text editable backup
When working with the portable text editable backup files, use Windows WordPad or a code editor
such as Source Insight or vi for a Linux system.
NOTE
When working with the portable text editable backup files, do not use Windows Notepad to edit the .cli file. Notepad
displays the contents of the .cli file in a disorganized manner.
Working with supported files
A text editable backup file that can be imported into a Summit WM Controller must end with either a
.cli or .zip file extension. The CLI commands copy restore or copy import can be used to copy both the
.cli or .zip files back onto the Summit WM Controller.
.cli file
The .cli file can have any name. For example, when you are working with the controller_config.cli file
you can do the following:
Extract the *.zip file.
Modify the contents of the extracted controller_config.cli file.
Rename the controller_config.cli.
Import the revised .cli file.
Order dependent
The *.cli file is order dependent. For example, when you modify the contents of the .cli file (add,
modify, or delete components), the contents of the file must follow the existing order. If the order of the
revised components is changed, it could create errors in CLI.
.zip file
The .cli file must be stored in the root directory of the .zip file. For example, when you are working
with the .zip file you can do the following:
