Configuring SONMP
About this task
Configure the SynOptics Network Management Protocol (SONMP) to allow a network management
station (NMS) formulate a map that shows the interconnections between Layer 2 devices in a
network. The default status is enabled.
Procedure
1. Enter Global Configuration mode:
enable
configure terminal
2. Disable SONMP:
no autotopology
3. Enable SONMP:
autotopology
Example
Switch:1> enable
Switch:1 configure terminal
Disable SONMP:
Switch:1(config)# no autotopology
Viewing the topology message status
About this task
View topology message status to view the interconnections between Layer 2 devices in a network.
Procedure
1. Log on to the switch to enter User EXEC mode.
2. Show the contents of the topology table:
