Finding Devices
You can search for devices by name or by IP address. You can limit the search to a
specific domain, or to a specific type of Extreme device. Search criteria can include:
— Adevicename.ClicktheDeviceName button,andenter acompleteorpartial name
in the Search: field.
— An IP address. Click the IP Address button and enter a complete or partial IP
address in the Search: field. You can use the wild card characters * or ? in your
search criteria.
*acts as a wildcard for an entire octet (0-255)
?is a wildcard for a single digit (0-9)
— A device group. Select the device group from the drop-down menu in the device
group field.Ifyoudonotspecifya name orIP addressintheSearchfield,alldevices
in the device group you select will be found.
— A device type. Select the device type from the drop-down menu in the type field. If
you do not specify a name or IP address in the Search field, all devices of the type
you select will be found.
3 Click Find to search for devices that meet the criteria you have specified. All devices
found are listed in the center panel. Information includes the domain in which the
devicecanbefound,itsname,IPaddress,andthetypeofdevice.
4 Double-click on a device in the results table to highlight the device in the Component
Tree, and to initiate a telnet session on the device (see “Running a Telnet Session on an
Individual Switch” on page 7-8).
5 Click New Search to clear all search criteria.
6 Click OK to close the search window.
