The EPICenter Alarm System
For certain other events, you must do the configuration on the switch using an SNMP
configuration tool such as SNMPc. See “Configuring Other SNMP Trap Events” on
page 5-38 for more information.
The event type is concatenated with the event name to define the variable
eventTypeName.
•EventName:The specific event (trap) that should trigger this alarm.Select the event
from the pull-down list provided. For RMON Rising or RMON Falling trap types, the
RMONrule nameis used as the event name.Thefull-down listincludes theconfigured
RMON rule names. See Appendix D for a description of the EPICenter and SNMP
events from which you can choose.
The event name is concatenated with the event type to define the variable
eventTypeName.
•Message:A message you specify that will be transmitted whenever the alarm occurs.
By default, this field contains the variable eventTypeName.Youcandeletethis
variable, add othervariablesas provided inthe variable pop-up list, andadd yourown
text.
Variables...: A pop-up list that provides a list of variables you can select to include in
the Message field. See Table 5-1 for a definition of the Alarm System variables you can
useinthemessagefield.
Repetitive occurrence specification: The required number of repeated occurrences of
the event that must occur before an alarm is generated. You can specify both the
number of times the event must occur, and the time frame within which these events
must occur. This letsyou define alarms that willfilterout short-lived or non-repeatable
events, and will only take action if the triggering event occurs repeatedly within a
sufficiently short time frame.
