Using Licenses to Establish Flow Rate Capacity
25 of 218
increased by the amount provided by the added licenses, up to the system-wide
maximum of 3 million FPM.
For example, if you add the PV-FPM-100K license, then you would have a total
flow capacity of 103,000.
3,000 + 100,000 = 103,000 FPM
If you then add the PV-FPM-50K license, you would have a total end-system
capacity of 153,000.
3,000 + 100,000 + 50,000 = 153,000 FPM
Calculating Flow Rate Violations
Extreme Management Center uses the following steps to calculate
ExtremeAnalytics licensing violations:
1. Run a task every 15 minutes to calculate a flow rate. This rate is based on a system-
wide average, not a maximum flow rate.
2. Compare the flow rate to the FPM limit for the licenses present.
For example, the limit for an NMS Advanced license is 3,000 FPM.
3. Check once a day to see if the calculated FPM for any 15-minute period exceeds the
licensed limit. If there was a violation, treat it as 1 violation day.
Calculating End-System Violations
Extreme Management Center checks the end-system count once a day and
compares that count with the licensed limit. If this check determines that the
count exceeds the licensed limit, the day is considered in violation.
Enforcing License Violation Limits
Extreme Management Center enforces flow rate and end-system license
violations in the same way, and there are two violation levels.
The first enforcement level causes the following actions when the user first
moves into the violation state:
l Displays a license violation message in the status bar.
l Generates an
ExtremeAnalytics License Violation event.
