Power FRUs
This section describes the power field replaceable units (FRUs) for Summit WM series switch WM200/
2000. It also provides procedures for removing, replacing, and verifying each FRU.
Summit WM series switch WM200/2000, AC-powered, redundant
system
The power FRUs on an AC-powered redundant Summit WM series switch WM200/2000 system is two
AC-to-DC shelf power supply units (ACPCI) on the Summit WM series switch WM200/2000 shelf.
Fan Tray
The fan tray (Figure 9) is a plug-in unit for 19-inch houses and consists of two 12-Vdc fans. It is suitable
for on-site installation and replacement. An air current (from left to right) of 84 m3/h per fan is
sufficient. Each fan generates a square wave, open collector signal that is proportional to the fan speed.
The absence of this signal indicates a fan problem in the system. The fan tray is hot swapable. In order
to replace the fan tray, the two screws on the fan tray cover must be removed.
WARNING!
Exercise caution in removing fan trays. It is recommended to waiting until the fans stop rotating before removing the
fan trays.
Figure 9 shows the fan model used: the PAPST 3412 N/2.
Figure 9: Fan Tray
The fan trays are positioned on the left and right in the Summit WM series switch WM200/2000 shelf.
Each fan features three conductors (12 V, ground (GND), speed signal). The fan trays are connected to
the backplane by a connection cable.
