inputsensitivity.Readingswillstabilizeandgivepropermeasurementwhentestleadsare
connectedtoacircuit.
NON‐CONTACTACVOLT AGEDETECTOR(NCV)
WARNING:TesttheACvoltagedetectoronaknownlivecircuitbeforeeachuse.
WARNING:BeforeusingthemeterintheACVoltageDetectormode,verifythatthebatteries
arefreshbyconfirmingcharactersappearontheLCDwhenthefunctiondialisturnedtothe
voltage(V)position.DonotattempttousethemeterasanACVoltageDetectorifthebatteries
areweakorbad.
Notes:
Voltagemaystillexistevenwithnoindicationgivenbythemeter.DonotsolelyrelyonNCV
detectiontodeterminethepresenceofvoltage.Socketdesign,insulationthicknessandother
factorsmayaffectreadings.
TheNCVindicatorLEDmayflashwhilemeasuringAC/DCvoltageduetothepresenceof
induced
voltage.
ExternalenvironmentalinterferencefromadditionalsourcescanfalselytriggerNCVdetection.
1. Disconnectthecommon(negative)testleadfromthebottomofthemeter.
2. Withthe functionswitchsettoanypositionexceptOFF,pressandholdtheNCVbutton.
3. Movethetipofthemeter
nearthevoltagesourceorconductorasshown.
4. Ifthevoltage detectedis>110VAC,thebeeperwillsoundandtheNCVindicatornearthe
tipofthemeterwillflash.Alwaystestthedetectoronaknownlive circuitfirstbefore
attemptingothertests.
