Zerocalibration
1. Placethemeteronanuncoatedsectionofthematerialtobe
measuredoronthereferencesubstrateprovided.Useeitherthe
FerrousorNon‐Ferrousreferenceasrequiredbythemeasurement
application.
a. PlacetheprobeontheuncoatedsubstrateandwatchtheLCD
readings.
b. Whenthereadings
appearstable,liftthemeteroffthesubstrate
c. PressandHoldtheZerobuttonfor2seconds(beep).TheZero
calibrationisnowcomplete.
2. Themeterisnowreadyformeasurements
Calibration
Themeter’saccuracycanbeenhancedbyperformingacalibrationusingthereferencefilmssupplied.
1. Performazerocalibrationasstatedabove
2. Performarangecalibrationusingareferencefilm.
a. Placeoneofthereferencefilmsonthesubstrate.
b. Placethemeteronthecalibrationreferencefilm
and
watchtheLCDreadings.
c. Whenthereadingsappearstable,liftthemeteroffthe
substrate
d. Press“MENU”andthenscrolldown“▼”to
“Calibration”.
e. Press“Select”tohighlightthe“Enable”functionand
thenpress“Select”.
f. Press“Esc”and
themeterwillenterthecalibration
mode.
g. Adjustthereadingtomatchtheknownvalueofthereferencefilmusingthe▲and▼
buttons.
h. TurnthemeterOFFtoexitandsavethecalibrationdata
3. Themeterisnowcalibratedtothebasematerialandthicknessused.
4. PerformStep2asneededusingtheotherreferencefilms.
Notes:
1. CalibrationdataisstoredintomemoryitisnoterasedwhenthemeteristurnedOFF.
2. Frequentlywipethesensorcontactwithacleanlintfreeclothtoremoveanyparticlesonthesensor
tip.
3.
Duringcalibrationthe▲and▼buttonsadjusttheinternalcalibrationfactorswithhighresolution.
Thedisplayresolutionmaybesuchthatitmaytakeupto10pressestoseea1digitchangeonthe
display.
Multi‐pointCalibration
Thismethodrequiresperformingtwoormoresequentialsinglepointcalibrations.Forbestresults,the
expectedcoatingthicknessmeasurementsshouldbewithinthecalibrationpoints.
