FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I switch from knockdown to orange peel?
For Knockdown turn the adjustable nozzle clockwise until the rubber has a bulge. For Orange
Peel turn the nozzle counterclockwise until the rubber is about flush.
What temperature should I keep my can(s) at?
Store ETX products at room temperature. Our products work best at or above 75° F (24° C).
The can should be shaken vigorously for at least 10 seconds before use.
How far from the wall should I hold the can?
The distance depends on the temperature of the can and the type of texture you want to use.
SingleShot Wall Texture: hold the can upright approximately 16-22 inches from the wall
SingleShot PLUS Wall & Ceiling Texture: hold the can upright approximately 30-34 inches
from the wall
ETX Texture Gun: hold the gun upright approximately 18-24 inches away from the wall
For orange Peel hold the can farther away and knockdown closer to the surface.
How long does it take to dry?
Drying times will differ, depending on the surface, heaviness of texture, climate, etc. Under ideal
conditions, in a warm room, it should take 5-10 minutes to dry. If drying speed is of concern you
can place a fan to blow directly at the affected surface(s).
How long should I wait before using the knockdown blade?
Under ideal conditions, in a warm room wait about 1 minute before using the knockdown blade.
Can I use SingleShot more than once if drywall material is
still left in the can?
Yes, you can continue to use SingleShot if there is still drywall compound left over from the
previous use. Just remember to clear the tube after each use to avoid clogging.
How many square feet does each can cover?
It depends on the amount of material you lay down. While there is no general rule, we estimate
that the average SingleShot can cover up to 30 square feet and SingleShot PLUS and the
Texture Cartridge can cover up to 60 square feet.
Should I buy SingleShot or the Texture Gun & Cartridge?
SingleShot and SingleShot PLUS are intended for single-use projects while the Texture Gun
appeals more to repeat users.
