USING CDIEEE E 1394 INTERFACE CD-RW WITH IEE Connect the IEEE 1394 CD-RW to computer ♦ Windows 98SE/Me/2000 and Macintosh: 1. Connect the of IEEE 1394 cable to the IEEE 1394 interface connector of the CD-RW drive. Plug the AC adapter into the DC IN Jack of CD-RW, and attach the AC adapter to the AC power outlet. Plug the port connector of IEEE 1394 cable into the IEEE 1394 port of computer, the Portable CD-RW is ready for use immediately.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS 98 SE NOTE: The IEEE1394 interface only works under Win98 Second Edition or above version. 1. Boot-up your computer into Windows 98SE, make sure the ‘IEEE 1394 Host Controller’ device driver has installed and available in Win98SE. Please right-click ‘My Computer’, click ‘Properties’ ‘Device Manager’ to open the ‘Device Manager’ window, refer to the below picture to check whether the ‘IEEE 1394 Host Controller’ is installed. 2.
7. Windows 98SE will install its built-in device driver automatically. After the installation, this Portable CD-RW will appear in ‘My Computer’. 8. If this Portable CD-RW doesn’t appear in ‘My Computer’ or doesn’t work properly, please go into ‘Device Manager’ to check whether the devices are installed as below (the name under the CD-ROM drive list in the picture below may be different from your CD-RW drive).

Follow the below procedures to check the version. A. Double-click ‘Macintosh HD’ on desktop. B. Double-click ‘System Folder’ in the opened window. C. Double-click ‘Extensions’ folder. D. Plug the port connector of IEEE 1394 cable into the IEEE 1394 port of computer, the Portable CD-RW is ready for use immediately.
♦ Windows Me: 1. Double-click on the icon in system tray, the ‘Unplug or Eject Hardware’ dialog box appears. 2. Highlight the ‘IEEE 1394 CD-ROM’ in the dialog box, click on Stop, then click on OK on next screen. 3. Wait for few seconds, the system prompts ‘The IEEE 1394 CD-ROM can now be safely removed from the system’, click on OK, and then plug out the IEEE 1394 cable from the IEEE 1394 port of computer. ♦ Windows 2000: 1.
CDCD-R/CDR/CD-RW MEDIA When you are using the Portable CD-RW to record your own CDs, you can use both CD-R disc and CD-RW discs. The CD-R/CD-RW discs must comply with the Orange Book Part II standard. Media Compatibility CD-R disc is readable by CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW drives. CD-RW disc is only readable by MultiRead CD-ROM and CD-RW drives, some CD-R drives may read CD-RW disc too.
