Solvingrecoveryproblems
IfyouareunabletoaccesstheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceortheWindowsenvironment,doone
ofthefollowing:
•UsearescuemediumtostarttheRescueandRecoveryworkspace.See“Creatingandusingarescue
medium”onpage64.
•Userecoverymediaifallothermethodsofrecoveryhavefailedandyouneedtorestoretheharddisk
drivetothefactorydefaultsettings.
Note:IfyouareunabletoaccesstheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceortheWindowsenvironment
fromarescuemediumorrecoverymedia,youmightnothavetherescuedevice(aninternalharddisk
drive,adisc,aUSBharddiskdrive,orotherexternaldevices)setastherstbootdeviceinthestartup
devicesequence.Youmustrstmakesurethatyourrescuedeviceissetastherstbootdeviceinthe
startupdevicesequenceintheThinkPadSetupprogram.Fordetailedinformationonhowtotemporarilyor
permanentlychangethestartupdevicesequence,see“Startupmenu”onpage125.
Itisimportanttocreatearescuemediumandasetofrecoverymediaasearlyaspossibleandstorethem
inasafeplaceforfutureuse.
