Note:Loosenortightenthesinglepoint
adjustmentboltenoughtomovetheheight-of-cut
platemountingboltsatleast1/3thelengthof
theavailabletravelintheirslots.Thiswillregain
someupanddownadjustmentoneachofthe
fourdecklinks.
17.Re-tightenfrontandrearheight-of-cutplate
mountingbolts.
Important:Torquethefrontandrear
height-of-cutplatemountingboltsto27-33
ft-lb(37-45N-m).

AdjustingtheParkingBrake

Every500hoursthereafter
Checktomakesurebrakeisadjustedproperly.This
proceduremustbefollowedaftertherst100hours
orwhenabrakecomponenthasbeenremovedor
replaced.
1.Drivethemachineontoalevelsurface.
2.Disengagethebladecontrolswitch(PTO),move
themotioncontrolleverstotheneutrallocked
positionandsettheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,
andremovethekey.
4.Raisethebackofthemachineupandsupportthe
machinewithjackstands.
CAUTION
Raisingthemowerdeckforserviceor
maintenancerelyingsolelyonmechanical
orhydraulicjackscouldbedangerous.The
mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmaynotbe
enoughsupportormaymalfunctionallowing
theunittofall,whichcouldcauseinjury.
DoNotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulic
jacksforsupport.Useadequatejackstands
orequivalentsupport.
5.Removethereartiresfromthemachine.
6.Removeanydebrisfromthebrakearea.
7.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletothe
“released”position.RefertotheDriveWheel
ReleaseValvessectioninOperation.
8.Measuretheoveralllengthofthecompression
spring.Thecorrectlengthshouldbebetween
11/2–19/16inches(3.8–4.0cm).Ifthespring
lengthiswithinthisrange,noadjustmentis
needed.Ifitisnot,proceedtostep9.
9.Holdthethreadedrodendwithatoolandadjust
thelocknutuntilthespringlengthisbetween
11/2–19/16inches(3.8–4.0cm)seeFigure30).
DoNotallowthecabletoturnwhenthenutsare
beingloosened.
