ON/START: Press this button to turn on Pitfall! or
to start the game.
OFF: Press this button to turn off the unit.
SOUND: Press this button to turn the sound on or
off (sound defaults to on).
PAUSE: Press this button to pause the game.
UP: Press this cursor to move up.
DOWN: Press this cursor to move down.
LEFT: Press this cursor to move left.
RIGHT: Press this cursor to move right.
JUMP: Press this button to jump up.
RESET: If Pitfall! locks up or malfunctions, use
a ballpoint pen to press RESET. Also press
RESET after inserting new batteries.
Playing Pitfall! (It’s more
than a game, it’s the pits!)
After inserting new batteries, press the RESET
button and then press ON/START to turn the unit
on. You’ll hear a beep and the high score
achieved on the game will be displayed. Press
ON/START again to start the game. You have a
total of 10 minutes and three lives for each
game. If you achieve a score that beats the cur-
rent high score, a light will flash on the screen
and music will play, proclaiming your victory!
Use the four cursors (
UP, DOWN, RIGHT and
LEFT) to move Harry through the jungle. Press
the
JUMP button to avoid tar pits, crocodiles and
other dangers. Need to catch your breath?
Simply press the
PAUSE button. To resume game
play, press the
ON/START button to continue. If
Pitfall Harry dies before collecting all of the
treasures, you can press the
ON/START button
