User Interface 2.1 OVERVIEW OF THE CONTROL PANEL 2.1.1 OPENING OF CONTROL PANEL To open the Control Panel, select the corresponding icon on the main IPDirector toolbar. An instance of a Control Panel window will open. It is possible to open multiple Control Panel windows at one time.

There are two possible full views without video display: • Full view in a rectangle shape : With this view, the clip information is truncated in the Clip Information tab.

The screenshot below shows the Channel Media pane. It includes a video display if the video display has been activated and linked to an A/V board in the IPDirector Configuration module of the Remote Installer. 2.3.

You need to click again the Lock button to unlock the channel that you have locked. When you unlock a channel on the Control Panel, it remains locked to the other users. You need to unlock it on the Channel Explorer to make it available to other users.

Activation and Deactivation Right-click the Channel field and select On Air from the menu to activate the onair status. The background of the field will then flash alternately red.

When the configuration has been set to parallel mode the control of the channel is from either IPDirector or the 3 r d Party device simultaneously and the second control feature is inactive.

If the user wants to load a clip num erically from the XNet network, it is possible to enter the LSM ID directly in this field. 2.

The Right Duration field value and colour depends on: • whether the train is playing or paused • whether an IN and/or OUT points are defined • the media position indicator.

This button is not displayed in the Software Player as only the normal Play mode is available.
IPDirector Version 5.6– User Manual – Part 5: Playout – Player Control Panel EVS Broadcast Equipment – July 2009 2.4.6 Issue 5.6.F JOG BAR When a clip is loaded, the jog bar shows its duration: • The white section represents the trimmed clip length, i.e. between the IN point and the OUT point that have been defined. • The yellow sections represent the guardbands before the IN point and after the OUT point. • The blue position indicator shows the actual relative position in the clip.
Issue 5.6.F 2.4.8 IPDirector Version 5.6 – User Manual – Part 5: Playout – Player Control Panel EVS Broadcast Equipment – July 2009 PLAY BUTTON OR OR The Play button allows playing the media on the Control Panel at norm al speed (100%) 2.4.9 CUSTOM SPEED FIELD The Custom Speed field indicates at which speed the media is played. You can define the custom speed from the or button by rightclicking on the button and selecting a speed value in the contextual menu. Refer to sections 2.4.11 and 2.4.

The rewind speed is set via the contextual menu available from the Fast Rewind button. It is specified in the Custom Speed field displayed below the Play button. A default rewind speed is set in the Tools > Settings > Control Panel category. See the section 2.

IPDirector Version 5.6– User Manual – Part 5: Playout – Player Control Panel EVS Broadcast Equipment – July 2009 Issue 5.6.F 2.4.15 SNAP BUTTON OR OR + When a media is loaded on a player channel, the Snap function allows you to go back to the last loaded record train at the timecode where the E/E mode was exited, effectively “snapping” back to where the user left off in the record train. 2.4.16 RET BUTTON OR OR + The button becomes active if a clip has been loaded on a player channel.

As long as the clip is not saved, the values 1 and 3 will not be displayed. 1. Protect IN field: start timecode of the initial guardband 2.

The timecode of the IN point is then displayed in the IN field. 2.5.5 MARK OUT OR OR When pressing the button, you set an OUT point at the timecode shown on the jog bar of the Control Panel.
Issue 5.6.F 2.5.8 IPDirector Version 5.6 – User Manual – Part 5: Playout – Player Control Panel EVS Broadcast Equipment – July 2009 UPDATE CLIP BUTTON OR If a clip that is loaded to a channel has had a change made to the IN, OUT, NAME, or other data entered when originally saved, pressing UPDATE CLIP will save the new settings.

Refer to section 6.2 “Save Clip Window”, on page 65 for more information on this window. You can define the Open Save Clip Window setting in the Tools > Settings > Clips > Clips/General category.

It is active when a clip is loaded on the player channel controlled by the Control Panel. In case a train or a playlist is loaded, the fields on the Clip Information tab are unavailable.

The user cannot type in this field, but click on keywords from either a keyw ord grid or dictionary when the Apply button is active in the relevant keyword tool.

If the source is not found in the database, the value “Unknown” will be assigned. 2.6.6 CREATION DATE The Creation Date is a read-only field that displays the date and time when the clip has been created. 2.6.

To link two or more clips together, you need to select them in the Database Explorer and choose Link from the contextual menu. Double-clicking a linked clip will load it on the Control Panel. Right-clicking the linked clip will display a contextual menu that is related to the linked clip (not to the loaded clip). 2.6.

The last transfer is on the top of the list. The possible transfers are mentioned below. The clips sent to the default archive are not displayed here.

This is accessed via the Open Transfer Information menu item.

Once player channels are ganged, a command executed on one of them will apply in a synchronized way to all other ganged channels.

NEXT and PREVIOUS In the same ways as for record trains, the NEXT and PREVIOUS comm ands executed with the ShuttlePRO on a linked clip loaded on one PGM are only applied on this PGM. In other words, the next or previous linked clip of the clip group will only be loaded on this player channel.

If you want to utilize a more complex set of functions in your playlist, use the Playlist Panel module. Refer to the chapter ‘Playlist Panel’ in part 6 of the manual.

Export Allows exporting the loaded playlist structure and playlist related information from IPDirector to an XML file, after setting up the requested TC for the track. It also has the same name. It gets an LSM ID. Properties 2.9.5 Displays information related to the owner and the groups the open playlist has been published to. PLAYLIST NAME AND LSM ID The Name field displays the name of the playlist open in the Clip-List tab.

NEXT OR If the playlist is in PLAY when the operator clicks on the NEXT button, the next element is loaded immediately and played accordingly to its start mode and start effect.

Wipe In the wipe effect, the last frame of the current element is filled in with the first frame of the next element from left to right (L-> R) or from the right to the left (R-> L).

Besides this colour code, the records are successively displayed on a white or on a light grey background. This helps the user to visually distinct the clips from each other. 2.9.

O RGANIZING THE C OLUMNS IN THE E LEMENT L IST The user can change the columns positions in the element list via the Organize command of the Clip-List contextual menu.

Available menu items will depend on the element loaded on the control panel.

Modify T/C IN or Date Opens the Modify T/C In or Date window from which you can modify the IN timecode or date of a clip. Protect Protects the loaded clip, which means that a user will receive a warning when he tries to delete a protected clip in IPDirector or in Multicam.

Shown in the screenshots below are all items that are available in the Control Panel with shortcuts, the default values are shown.

Assigning a Channel 3.1 INTRODUCTION There are several methods to assign a player channel to the Control Panel. Some of the methods will directly open an instance of the Control Panel. Others are used when the Control Panel is already open. • Open the Control Panel and assign a channel from the Channel Explorer.

Select from the main menu of IPDirector. A Control Panel window opens in an inactive state as an XT channel has yet to be assigned. 2.

Loading Media Note: When a lo-res element, without corresponding hi-res elem ent, is loaded on a player channel or on the Software Player, a warning icon is displayed in the Loaded Media field. 4.1 LOADING A TRAIN IN THE CONTROL PANEL There are several methods to load a train in the Control Panel: • Open the Control Panel and load a train from the Channel Explorer.

In this process, offline playlists will automatically become on-line and distant playlists will autom atically be copied to the XT of the controlled channel. Creating Media 6.1 HOW TO CREATE CLIPS IN THE CONTROL PANEL To be able to create clips in the Control Panel, you need to ensure that: • You have assigned a channel to the Control Panel See section 3 ‘Assigning a Channel’ on page 54. • You have loaded the record train or the clip from which you want to create a new clip. See section 4 ‘Loading Media’, on page 56.

Using Keywords & Metadata 10.1 ADDING KEYWORDS TO A CLIP OR PLAYLIST Keywords can be assigned to media (clip or playlist) when it is created or edited. You can choose to add keywords from a keyword grid or from a dictionary. When you work with the Keyword Grid tool, you can assign keywords using the keyword numbers associated with each keyword of the grid.

Select the keyword to be deleted on the Keyword List field 4.
