Recorder Panel 1.1 INTRODUCTION The Recorder Panel is the graphical user interface used to control the recorder channels of an XT server. The Recorder Control Panel shows the record status of a channel and can enable channels to start or stop recording depending upon the XT server base configuration.

Ingest Scheduler 2.1 INTRODUCTION The IP Ingest Scheduler allows for clips to be automatically made on any channel under the control of IP Director at either a time scheduled in advance or entered manually by the user, this means multiple events over a period of time can be autom atically recorded and protected.

T IME A REA In the One Shot tab, enter the required date, start time and stop time or duration in the Time area.

Bins Choose a destination bin from the bin directory tree, this is where the clips scheduled to be created will be stored.

VTR Control Panel 3.1 INTRODUCTION 3.1.1 PURPOSE The purpose of the VTR Control Panel is to control a VTR (Video Tape Recorder) from IP Director. It is an advanced remote control, from within the IP Director application. Apart from playback and record control, it also allows the extraction of clips from a tape to the XT servers.

The VTR device will be available to all users of the IP Director system.

D EVICE BAR The Device bar shows which device is linked to the VTR Control Panel. A different device can be selected by right-clicking the Device bar and selecting the device in the list that appears. M ODE SELECTOR The Mode selector shows the current state of the window.

It returns to the zero state as soon as the mouse button is released. The slider can be "parked" at a fixed position by right-clicking the jog bar at the desired position. To return the slider to the zero state, left-click anywhere in the jog bar.

In the auto-edit process, clips can be sent to different destinations and published to user groups. 3.4.2 SCREEN ELEMENTS AND FUNCTIONS The Transport Mode buttons and controls remain the same in Auto-Edit M ode.

Click the cell you wish to edit and make the required changes.

These files can be imported straight into IP Director. To import a Batch List: click the Import button, select the list you wish to import and click Open.

To export a Batch List: click the Export button, select a folder, enter a file name and click Save. In the next window: select which columns from the Batch List should be included in the export file and click OK.

Shown in the screenshots below are all item s that are available in the VTR Control Panel with shortcuts, the default values are shown.

Player Control Panel 4.1 INTRODUCTION The Player Control Panel, referred to as Control Panel in this user manual, is the graphical user interface used to control player channels of an XT server. The Control Panel allows controlling an XT channel and making clips.

When fully expanded, the panel window looks like the screenshot below: The following outline details the type of information available in the various panes displayed in the above screenshot.

For detailed information on the Clip-List tab, refer to section 4.11 “Clip-List Tab”, on page 61. 4.3 VIEWS OF THE CONTROL PANEL It is possible to work with the Control Panel using several views depending on the actions you need to perform.

The screenshot below shows the Channel Media pane. It includes a video display if the video display has been activated and linked to an A/V board in the IP Director Configuration module of the Remote Installer. 4.4.

The “Shuttle” icon this channel. is shown on the left if the ShuttlePRO is associated with If a name has been assigned to the channel on the XT server, this name will be displayed.

If the user wants to load a clip num erically from the XNet network, it is possible to enter the LSM ID directly in this field. 4.5 TRANSPORT FUNCTIONS PANE The Transport Functions pane provides a jog bar and more transport functions to navigate in the loaded element.

When a clip is loaded The following table shows the possible colours and values of the right duration field when a clip is loaded.

Note Play-Lists can be played in either normal play or continuous loop but not in bounce mode. 4.5.5 CUSTOM SPEED FIELD The Custom Speed field indicates at which speed the media is played.
IP Director Version 4.4 – User Manual – Part 3: Ingest and Play-Out Issue 4.4.C EVS Broadcast Equipment – March 2008 4.5.7 JOG BAR When a clip is loaded, the Jog bar shows the duration of the clip: • The white section represents the trimmed clip length, i.e. between the IN point and the OUT point that have been defined. • The yellow sections represent the guardbands before the IN point and after the OUT point. • The blue position indicator shows the actual relative position in the clip.

The rewind speed is set via the contextual menu available from the Fast Rewind button. It is specified in the Custom Speed field displayed above the jog bar. A default rewind speed is set in the Tools > Settings menu, Transport tab and Speeds section. Please see the section 4.13.

This allows for playback beyond the clip boundaries or to define a new clip from the original record media. 4.5.16 GRAB FRAME OR The Grab Frame button allows the user to grab a picture of the frame that is currently loaded or being played on the Control Panel. Each time the button is selected, a .jpg or .

The timecode of the IN point is then displayed in the Short IN field. 4.6.5 MARK OUT OR OR When pressing the icon, you set an OUT point at the timecode shown on the jog bar of the Control Panel.
IP Director Version 4.4 – User Manual – Part 3: Ingest and Play-Out EVS Broadcast Equipment – March 2008 4.6.7 Issue 4.4.C CLEAR OUT OR If you select the cross next to the Mark OUT icon, the following happens: • The OUT point will be cleared and the Short OUT field reset if an OUT point was marked on a live record chain. • The timecode for the maximum clip OUT value including guardbands is displayed if an OUT point was marked on a clip. 4.6.

You can define the Open Save Clip Window setting in the Clip Creation tab available from the Tools > Settings menu. Refer to section 4.13.

When the configuration has been set to parallel mode the control of the channel is from either IP Director or the 3 r d Party device simultaneously and the second control feature is inactive.

Window Overview The Save Clip window is divided into two panes: • The left pane contains the Clip Information, i.e. clip data in general and in relation with IP Director. It is always displayed. • The right pane contains the Clip Metadata, i.e.

In this configuration, the system will obey the previous LSM mode setting the user has defined. 4.7.3 CLIP NAME The Clip nam e can contain up to 24 alphanumeric characters. Only 12 characters of this name can be displayed by LSM systems. 4.

If a ShuttlePRO is associated to the on-air channel, its functions will also be inactive. The OSD of the XT channel will also show a key representing that the play-list is locked.

The OSD of the channel displays the play-list number in RED.

IN Zone In this zone the IN point of the inserted train can be defined.

It allows the operator to send commands directly to the XT server. These commands need to be reflected in the IP Director applications. The GPI keys first need to be configured in the Setup Configuration on the XT server.
