Type
Conversion type for the aspect ratio of the edit. When a conversion is
performed
on the media, this setting allows the user to define a
preferred default from either letterbox (LB)

or pillarbox

/cropped (PS:
pan & scan

)
If the aspect ratio is set to 16:9, the possible values are 4:3 -> 16:9
(PS), 4:3 -> 16:9 (LB).
If the aspect ratio is set to 4:3, the possible values are 16:9 -> 4:3
(PS), 16:9 -> 4:3 (LB).
The Edit Metadata pane contains the following fields:

be associated with the edit, if they have appropriate user rights.

Fields belonging to the Metadata Profile selected in the Current
Profile field.
The user can modify the values of the Metadata profile fields. The
modifications will only apply to the given edit
and not impact the
default values of the profile.

The letterbox effect occurs when film shot in a widescreen aspect ratio is transferred to standard-
width video formats while preserving the film's original aspect ratio. The resulting image has black bars
(mattes) above and below it.

The pillarbox effect occurs in widescreen video displays when black bars (mattes or masking) are
placed on the sides of the image. It becomes necessary when film or video was not originally designed
for a widescreen display.

Pan and scan is a method of adjusting widescreen film images so that they can be shown within the
proportions of a standard definition 4:3 aspect ratio television screen, often cropping off the sides of
the original widescreen image to focus on the composition's most important aspects. (Source:
