3.3.4 Setting The AT Motherboard
Your
system's
motherboard
mayor
may
not
have
a
switch/jumper
which
determines
the
maximum
amount
of
memory
that
the
motherboard
will accept (in
the
IBM
PC
AT
the
jumper
is
marked
J18).
If
your
system is
an
AT
compatible, please
check
your
system's
manual
to see
if
any
such
switch/jumper exists;
refer
to
your
owner's
manual
for
instructions
on
how
to set
the
switch/jumper
to
correspond
with
the
amount
of
memory
on
the
motherboard.
The
motherboard
lies
on
the
floor
of
the system
and
con-
tains
the
central processing unit
of
the
computer.
To
set
the
switch, remove
the
cover
of
your
system (see Section 4.1:
Physical Installation
for
details
on
how to
remove
the
system
cover).
If
you
have
an
IBM
PC
AT,
please set
J18
in
the
256K
position
if
you
have
256KB
of
RAM
installed
and
in
the
512K position
if
you
have
512KB
of
RAM
installed
(remember
to set
the
SW3 dipswitch
on
the
RAM
3000
Deluxe
board
to
correspond
with
the
amount
of
memory
on
your
motherboard
if
the
RAM
3000 Deluxe is
the
only
memory
expa-nsion
board
in
your system).

lowing figure
for
the
position
of
the
J18
jumper
block.
