Installing the expansion tank
□ Drain the water system or isolate the area where the expansion tank (A) will be installed.
□ Install the expansion tank (A) on the supply side of the water heater, or on the suction side of the heating circulator. Use a hanger
strap to support the weight of the expansion tank (A), as needed.
□ Re-pressurize the system and check for leaks. Repair as necessary.
□ Restart the water heater system and check for relief valve discharge. If the relief valve drips, the expansion tank may be
improperly charged or undersized.
IMPORTANT: If installing using a saddle
valve, the expansion tank must hang
vertically, directly below the copper pipe.
