Installing the expansion tank
Drain the water system or isolate the area where the expansion tank (A) will be installed.
Install the expansion tank (A) on the supply side of the water heater, or on the suction side of the heating circulator. Use a hanger
strap to support the weight of the expansion tank (A), as needed.
Re-pressurize the system and check for leaks. Repair as necessary.
Restart the water heater system and check for relief valve discharge. If the relief valve drips, the expansion tank may be
improperly charged or undersized.
IMPORTANT: If installing using a saddle
valve, the expansion tank must hang
vertically, directly below the copper pipe.
