R-9 VALUE WATER HEATER BLANKET Cobertor de calentador de agua, de valor 9 R
1. For best results it is recommended that you remove the water heater
blanket from its package 15 minutes prior to installation and lay it out at on a clean surface to allow the berglass batting to decompress.
2. Clean top of heater thoroughly.
DO NOT USE solvent-based cleaners. Make sure water heater top is completely dry before proceeding.
3. With vinyl side facing out, wrap 48
in width of insulation around water
heater. Mark vinyl at point where insulation overlaps.
4. Remove vinyl from heater and lay at. Using knife and straight edge,
cut jacket with vinyl side up along line marked at overlap. Cut three 6
in long sections of tape and secure insulation together at top,
middle, and bottom.
5. Wrap cut jacket around heater, positioning seam over thermostat on
electric units. Cut and apply three 6
in long pieces of tape along
seam. Cut out insulation over burner control area and gas valve. Center and apply 48
in long section of tape over entire length of side
seam.
6. For Gas Water Heaters:
Do not insulate top of gas water heaters.
For Oil-Fired Water Heaters:
Tape excess insulation to top of water heater.
For Electric Water Heaters:
Cut excess insulation to t around hot and cold water pipes and relief valve. Use remaining tape to fasten insulation to top of water heater.
"R" means resistant to heat flow. The higher the R-value of the blanket, the greater the insulation effectiveness. WARNING: DO NOT INSULATE TOP OF GAS WATER HEATERS. INSULATE TOP OF ELECTRIC WATER HEATER BY CUTTING EXCESS INSULATION TO FIT AROUND OBSTRUCTIONS. PROCEED WITH ITEM 5 OF THE INSTALLATION.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Note: Please read instructions thoroughly before beginning. CAUTION: Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wear long sleeved, loose-fitting clothing, gloves, and eye protection when handling fiberglass. Wash with soap and warm water after handling.
Make sure blanket does not block proper venting across top of heater and does not obstruct air flow into burner area. Make sure insulation does not cover heating element controls or power connection. Failure to do so could cause electric shock.
WARNING FOR GAS HEATERS WARNING FOR ELECTRIC HEATERS
1. Para los mejores resultados, se recomienda retirar de su paquete el
cobertor de calentador de agua, 15 minutos antes de comenzar la instalación, y colocarlo sobre una supercie plana y limpia para permitir que la guata de bra de vidrio se descomprima.
2. Limpia completamente la parte superior del calentador.

4. Quita el vinilo del calentador y aplánalo. Con un cuchillo y el borde
recto, corta la cubierta con el lado de vinilo hacia arriba por la línea marcada en la superposición. Corta tres secciones de cinta adhesiva de 15.2
cm
de largo y asegura el aislamiento en la parte superior,
media e inferior.
5. Envuelve la cubierta cortada alrededor del calentador, colocando la
unión sobre el termostato de las unidades eléctricas. Corta y aplica las tres piezas de cinta adhesiva de 15.2
cm
de largo sobre las
uniones. Corta el aislamiento sobre el área de control del quemador y la válvula de gas. Centra y aplica la sección de cinta adhesiva de 1.21
m
de largo sobre todo el largo de la unión lateral.
6. Para calentadores de agua, de gas:
No coloques aislamiento en la parte superior de los calentadores de agua, de gas.
Para calentadores de agua, de petróleo:
Coloca cinta adhesiva sobre el aislamiento en exceso hasta la parte superior del calentador de agua.
Para calentadores de agua eléctricos:
Corta el aislamiento en exceso para que encaje en las tuberías de agua fría y caliente y la válvula de alivio. Usa el resto de la cinta adhesiva para jar el aislamiento a la parte superior del calentador de agua.
"R" significa resistente al flujo de calor. Cuanto más alto sea el valor de "R" del cobertor, más efectivo será el aislamiento.
