8.1.5 DDNS Settings
DDNS is an abbreviation for Dynamic Domain Name Service. In general, ISP will assign a dynamic IP
address to IP PBX by ADSL PPPoE mode connection, and the dynamic IP address may change day
by day. In other words, the IP-PBX can NOT be reached with a fixed IP address. In such a case,
DDNS can be used for resolving the current IP address for PBX.
DDNS is used to associate domain name with dynamic IP address acquired from ISP, and it keep
updating the current IP address of IP PBX with the associated domain name. Users would get the
current PBX address from its domain name from DDNS server. For DDNS, you firstly need to register
a user account onto, for example, www.3322.org or www.dyndns.com. The UTG7204-ON supports
the DDNS settings for these two most popular free DDNS; 3322.org and dyndns.org.
