Measurement Guide
DOOR SLAB SIZE
The slab size is the size of the door on it’s own without any frame
. A typical frame is around 1-1/2” wider
and 1-1/2
″
taller than the nominal door slab size.
Most manufacturers don’t make their standard doors exactly 36
″
x 80
″
, some customers will think they need a
custom door because their slab is just shy or proud of standard dimensions (eg 35-1/2
″
x 79-1/2
″
), but that is
rarely the case.
Taking some rough measurements to figure out what unit size your home might need is always a good idea
when starting out your door purchasing experience.
When it comes to making the purchase of your new door, we strongly recommend that the installer who will be
installing the unit, confirms your measurements to ensure a proper fit.
