NOTES CONCERNING THE MODEL 1431/32 AUTO-DIAL MODEMS cont.
The SET DATA FORMAT function allows the panel communications port to be configured for
connection to a number of devices including a printer, an autodial modem, a computer, and the
DVACS
tm
network. Enter the Service user code and then press the S key (shift 8). There are
many options to be chosen; the actual options presented will depend on the device being
configured. Some options require a yes or no selection (e.g., PARITY =EVEN, where EVEN
indicates the current setting). Others will require a numeric entry.
The display will show COMMS MODE 0. This is the first option presented in this function.
If the only equipment connected to the communications port is the Model 1431/1432 autodial
modem, leave the value unchanged. Press the RETURN/ENTER key. The display will show
SYSTEM ID 0. Enter 1 and then press the RETURN/ENTER key. Proceed to the next
paragraph to continue. If a Model 3302R3 port splitter that permits local logging of activity is
part of the system, enter a 2. Press the RETURN/ ENTER key. The display will show
TRANSMIT NAME NO. If you wish the site name to be printed on every logged event,
press the YES key; otherwise, press the RETURN/ENTER key. If the YES key is pressed, the
display will show ENTER NAME/ADDRESS for a moment and then the current name and
address, if any. The name and address can be entered or edited as required (see any EUROPLEX
control panel manual for information on how to select the letters of the alphabet). Hint: If you
wish to view, enter, or edit the name and address information stored in the panel after the initial
activation of any EUROPLEX series 3000 control panel, this is the easiest way to access this
entry. Press the RETURN/ ENTER key to proceed. The display will show SYSTEM ID 0.
Enter a 1 and then press the RETURN/ENTER key.
The display will now show ACCESS CONTROL 543. This value, from 0 to 543, controls the
types of remote commands that can be sent to a control panel when it is used with PANELMAN
software. A value of 543 allows all commands to be executed and a value of 0 denies them all.
To select a value for access control, consult the table below. Decide which commands are to be
allowed and add the numbers in the right-hand column of the table for those commands.
The total of the numbers is the access control value. Enter this number into the panel and then
press the RETURN/ENTER key to proceed.
