The final step is to connect the telephone line to the modem. A Model 1431 auto-dial modem has
only one telephone line input. Plug one end of the 8-conductor modular cord into the modular
jack CON 4 and plug the other end of the cord into the CA-38A jack. The CA-38A jack must be
wired as shown in Fig. 1 to allow the line seizure relay to control the “house” phone. A Model
1432 auto-dial modem has two telephone line inputs, one for the primary line and a second one
for the backup line and may be used for Sprinkler Supervisory/Fire Alarm Panel monitoring.
Line fault detection is built into both inputs and the modem automatically switches to the
operating line.
PROGRAMMING THE CONTROL PANEL FOR USE WITH THE AUTODIAL MODEM
The Model 1431/1432 auto-dial modem uses the Hayes
TM
modem instruction set. These coding
commands are contained in all EUROPLEX control panels that have the following first line on
their EPROM labels. Generally, any control panel is modem-compatible that has 1010 as the
default Service user code and 1020 as the default Master user code.
