4 (Exit-1 Time, Exit-2 Time, etc., see pages 48 to 49) and, if applicable, the entry delay time for
the common area (C-Exit Time), see page 48. Note that the same time is used for both exit and
entry. If no delay is required, then you may set the exit/entry time value to zero. As an added
feature, the Full Arm Ex Time variable (see page 48) allows a user a given amount of time to
exit when all areas are armed at once by using the FULL ARM key.
LITERAL EDIT (E key): To change the designation of an area to something more descriptive
(e.g., AREA-1 to OFFICE), select the LITERAL EDIT function. Enter the Service user code,
and then press the E key (shift AUDIBLE SILENCE 2). The display will show ENTER
LITERAL NO. 1. The descriptions for the eight areas and the common area are stored in
literals 150 to 158; literals 150 through 157 contain the phrases "AREA-1" through "AREA-8"
respectively and literal 158 contains the word "COMMON". Enter the relevant literal number
and
press the RETURN key. The display will show the flashing sub-menu EDIT---COPY--DEFAULT.
EDIT - Press the FULL DISARM key to select EDIT. Press and hold the SHIFT key until the
current entry (e.g., AREA-1) is deleted. Enter the new area name (e.g., OFFICE) up to a
maximum of six characters; position the cursor up; and then press the RETURN key to complete
the entry. Continue in this manner for the rest of the areas. (See the APLEX/APLEX
INSTALLER SET-UP BOOKLET for more detailed instructions for this procedure.) It is good
practice to note down the names given to the various areas so that in the future a serviceperson
can relate the names to the previous area numbers.
ACTIVATING AREA STATUS MESSAGES
If this is the first activation of the panel or an activation following a COLD START with ZAP,
then the final step in the installation of an 8-area system requires you to arm each individual area
once. This action causes the panel to display the area status messages. For area 1, enter your user
code and then press the 1 key. For area 2, enter your user code and then press the 2 key. And so
on. If an area begins to arm, enter your user code and then press the appropriate number key to
disarm that area. The panel will then display the area disarmed status message. If the display
shows CANNOT ARM, the area will not arm; however, the panel will display a list of the open
zones and then the area disarmed status message. You may either shunt (by-pass) those zones or
close them for a moment to permit the arming.
C-LEM INSTALLATION
