QUICK PROGRAMMING GUIDE
The following section provides a quick summary of the programming procedure for the APLEX
Model 3100E8 8-area control panel. It is assumed that the wiring is completed and that the
control panel is now ready to be programmed.
PROGRAMMING THE 8-AREA CONTROL
After the APLEX control panel has been powered up, the following steps must be taken to set up
the panel for use.
1. The number of areas to be monitored must be determined.
2. Users must be assigned the areas they are to arm and disarm.
3. Users must be given their user identification code, selected options, such as disarm,
clear display, audible silence, single-zone shunt, etc., and names.
4. For each area, zone descriptions must be entered and zone types must be assigned.
5. Exit and entry times must be set.
6. Literal edit may be used to name areas.
7. Area status messages must be activated to complete the set-up procedure.
NUMBER OF AREAS ASSIGNMENT (L key): This function allows the programming of the
number of areas to be monitored. Enter the Service user code and then press the L key (shift 2).
The display will show NO. OF AREAS N, where N is the current number of areas. Enter the
number of areas to be monitored and press the RETURN key to exit. (See also page 52.)
AREA/USER ASSIGNMENT (M key): This function assigns to the users of 8-area panels the
individual areas they can arm and disarm. Enter the Service user code and then press the M key
(shift 3). The display will show ENTER USER NO. 1. Press the RETURN key to accept user 1
(the Service user), or enter another user number and then press the RETURN key. You may now
assign which areas, if any, that user can arm and disarm. The display will now show AREA-1
NO, indicating that at this time area 1 is not to be armed and disarmed by that user. Press the
RETURN key to accept the display or press the YES key to allow arming and disarming. A yes
choice may be changed to no by pressing the NO key. Proceed in a similar manner until all areas
have been dealt with. The display will now show the next user number. At this point, you may
continue to assign areas to users or you may press the NO key to exit from this function.
SET IDS/OPTIONS (C key): This function requires the Master user’s code to permit assigning
identification codes, options from his or her menu, and names to each general user. If a general
user attempts to enter a function or mode other than that permitted, the display will show
** INVALID ENTRY **. Enter the Master user’s code and then press the C key (shift FULL
