Terminal 40/J24/J26 is the receive line for incoming data [e.g., DVACS
(tm)
, auto-dial modem,
etc.]. In non-polled applications (e.g., logging printer), this terminal is used as a handshake line.
Connect this terminal to a pin that will supply positive voltage when your printer is on line (e.g.,
pin 4, 11, or 20 of the connector). Consult your printer manual. If the handshake line from the
printer is not used, connect a 2,200-ohm resistor from terminals 38/J22/J22 to 40/J24/J26;
otherwise actions such as arming and disarming will not be printed. This handshake is not
required for system log or report printing.
The following chart may be used to determine the standby battery requirements for the APLEX
control panel:
Product Current Draw from
12-Volt Battery
Amp-Hour Battery Requirements
for 24-Hour Standby
3100E8 Panel-Armed Mode 0.1 amp 2.4 amp-hr.
3220 Keypad (Display On) 0.25 amp 6.0 amp-hr.
3220 Keypad (Display Off) 0.045 amp 1.0 amp-hr.
1224 Convertor + L1 Subset
0.3 amp 7.2 amp-hr.
List 3 Subset (No 1224 needed)
0.040 amp 1.0 amp-hr.
Typical PIR 0.04 amp each unit 1.0 amp-hr.
For example: A 3100E8 panel plus one 1224 convertor and two PIRs requires
2.4+7.2+2(1.0)=11.6 amp-hr. standby. This system requires a minimum of two 6.5 amp-hr.
batteries wired in parallel. A 3100E8 panel plus one F1F2 List 3 subset and one 3220 keypad
with display off (closed/armed period) requires 2.4+1.0+1.0=4.4 amp-hr. In this case, one 7.5
amp-hr. battery would be sufficient.
