Remote Communication - Connection

Modem Communications

Communication via modems to the 3GS controller is a very

reliable and cost effective method of remote system

interrogation and maintenance. Europlex recommend the

“Multitech” range of modems for use with Panelman (further

enquiries should be made regarding specific model numbers).

A modem MUST be connected to the PC serial port and

either a modem or DM1200 must be connected to a 3GS

serial port.

Using a DM1200

The DM1200 is a 1200 baud modem combined with a

16-channel digital communicator and is designed and

manufactured by Europlex to interface with the 3GS system.

The DM1200 connects to a 3GS serial port (default port 2)

and its modem communicates with a modem at the PC. Note

that the DM1200 must only be connected at the 3GS. You

may not substitute a DM1200 for a modem at the PC end.
