IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using your iron, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: 1. Read all instructions before using the iron. 2. Use iron only for its intended use. 3. To protect against a risk of electrical shock, do not immerse in water or other liquids. 4. The iron thermostat should always be turned to its lowest position before plugging or unplugging from outlet. Never yank cord to disconnect from outlet, instead grasp plug and pull to disconnect. 5.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS 1. To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit. 2. If an extension is absolutely necessary, a 15-ampere rated cord with a polarized plug should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may overheat. IMPORTANT Resetting After Auto Shut-Off The auto shut-off safety function of your EURO-PRO EP480 Iron is designed to engage after approximately 8 minutes of non use. The blue indicator light will flash when the auto shut-off has activated. To reset your iron and continue ironing follow these steps. 1) 2) Lift iron from stand. Holding the iron horizontally in front of you, gently rock the iron back and forth several times. This motion will reset the safety switch inside the iron. Do not shake the iron.
BEFORE FIRST USE • • • Remove any labels, stickers or tags which may be attached to the body or soleplate of the iron before using the iron. Read all instructions for use carefully. Always follow the Important Safeguards. IMPORTANT The first time an iron is used, some odor and small white particles may come out of the steam vents. This is perfectly normal and will cease to occur after the iron has been in use for a short while.
CHOOSING THE IRONING TEMPERATURE Set the temperature dial according to the type of fabric . • Synthetics (low temperature) • • Silk, Wool (medium temperature) • • • Cotton, Linen (high temperature) Temperature Control Dial Please note: Variable Steam Control Before starting to iron delicate fabrics, it is best to first test the temperature of the iron on a hem or an inside seam. CONNECTING THE IRON TO THE POWER SUPPLY • • • • • Make sure that the variable steam control dial is set at ‘0’.
FILLING WITH WATER • Ensure the unit is unplugged from the main supply before filling. • Set the variable steam control (4) to position "MIN" (ie. No steam) • slide the water filling inlet cover (7) down and use the measuring beaker (12) to pour the water in through the filling aperture (see picture). • Do not overfill. Note: Regular tap water can be used up to 12 grains water hardness but if your water exceeds this we suggest using 1/3 tap water and 2/3 distilled water.
IRONING WITH STEAM • • • • • • Make sure iron is unplugged from power source. Set the variable steam control to ‘0’. Fill the iron with water following the instructions for filling. Plug the cord into a 120 Volt AC electrical outlet. Set the temperature control dial within the steam area i.e. ‘•••’. Make sure that the iron has reached the selected temperature with the variable steam control set at ‘0’.
WATER SPRAY • • • • • Use the spray button to add moisture to stubborn wrinkles. First make sure that there is water in the tank. Press the spray button (6) slowly to get a jet spray. Press the spray button strongly and quickly to get a mist. Please note: If spray does not come out when you press the spray button, cover the spray opening with your finger and press a few times. TO EMPTY THE IRON • • • • • • • Always empty iron after each usage.
TO ADD WATER • Unplug iron from the electrical outlet. • Follow instructions to empty the iron. • Then, follow the instructions for filling the iron. Following this procedure will ensure that you do not overfill the iron. SELF-CLEANING In order to remove calcium and built-up particles, the self-cleaning system should be run at least once a month. • Fill the watering beaker provided to the half-full mark and then pour into the water reservoir. • Set the variable steam control (4) to the no steam position.
CLEANING, STORAGE & MAINTENANCE • Always turn the variable steam control to ‘0’ after you have emptied the water tank. • Allow iron to cool down. • Always store the iron on the metal iron rest or in an upright position on it’s heel rest to protect the soleplate. • From time to time clean the exterior with a damp cloth and wipe dry. • If you use spray starch, wipe the soleplate occasionally with a soft damp cloth to prevent the forming of a deposit.

Always allow iron sufficient time to heat up (thermostat light goes off) before activating the variable steam control. • Auto-Off may be activated. Move iron or gently shake. • Overuse of steam burst. Allow more time between each burst. • Iron may have been overfilled.
