11-5 Crankshaft Inspection
• Use a thickness gauge to measure the left and
right clearance of the larger end of the
connecting rod.
• Service limit: 0.6 mm
• Measure the clearance of the larger end in the
vertical direction.
• Service limit: 0.05 mm
• Place the crankshaft on a V-block.
• Measure the run-out of the crankshaft.
• Service limit: 0.10 mm
Crankshaft Bearing Inspection
• Use your hand to turn the bearing.
• It should turn smoothly and quietly.
• Check the inner ring to ensure it links firmly on
the bearing.
• If any roughness, noise, or loose linkage is
detected, replace the bearing.
• Note: If bearing replacement is necessary,
replace both bearings.
• Special tool: Outer bearing puller
