Revert to Snapshot Command
ReverttoSnapshotisessentiallyashortcuttotheparentsnapshotofYouarehere.This
commandimmediatelyactivatestheparentsnapshotofthecurrentstateofthevirtual
machine.
Thecurrentdiskandmemorystatesarediscardedandrestoredastheywerewhenyou
tookthatsnapshot.Ifyour
parentsnapshotwastakenwhenthevirtualmachinewas
poweredoff,choosingSnapshot>ReverttoSnapshotmovesthepowered‐onvirtual
machinetothatparentstate,thatis,toapowered‐offstate.

Virtual machine with no snapshots.
The new snapshot (snapshot_a) is
now the parent of the You are here
state. The parent snapshot of the You
are here state is the parent snapshot
of the virtual machine.
When you take a snapshot from the
snapshot_a state, snapshot_a
becomes the parent of the new
shapshot (snapshot_b) and
snapshot_b is the parent shapshot of
the You are here state. If you take a
snapshot now, the new snapshot will
be based on the You are here state,
whose parent snapshot is the
snapshot_b state.
When you go to snapshot_a,
snapshot_a becomes the parent of the
You are here state. If you take a
snapshot now, the new snapshot will
be based on the snapshot_a state.
When you revert a virtual machine, the virtual machine returns to the parent snapshot of the
virtual machine (that is, the parent of the current You are here state).
