To create a scheduled task that changes the power state
1ClicktheScheduledTasksbuttoninthenavigationbar.
Thelistofscheduledtasksappears.
2Right‐clickandchooseNewScheduledTask,orchooseFile>New>Scheduled
Task.
TheSelectaTasktoSchedulewindowappears.
3 SelectChangethepowerstateofavirtualmachine,andclickOK.
TheChangeaVirtualMachine’sPowerStatewizardappearsanddisplaysthe
SelectVirtualMachinepage.
4 Selectthevirtualmachinewhosestateyouwanttochange.
TheSelectaPower
Operationpageappears.
5 SelectaPowerOperationoption,andclickNext.
6IfyouselectedaPowerOnoperation,theSelectHostpageappears.Selectthehost
whichwillpoweronthevirtualmachine.
7ClickNext.
TheScheduletheTaskscreenappears.
8 Namethetask,giveadescription,andspecifythetimingof
thetask.
Todisplaytothecalendar,selectLater,andclickthedrop‐downarrowtochoosea
datefromthedisplayedcalendar.Aredcircleindicatestoday’sdateandadark
circleindicatesthescheduleddate.
9ClickNext.
10 ClickFinish.
VMwareInfrastructureClientaddsthenewtasktothescheduled
tasklistand
completesitatthedesignatedtime.Whenyoucreateascheduledtask,
VirtualCenterverifiesthatyouhavethecorrectpermissionstoperformtheactions
ontherelevantdatacenters,hosts,andvirtualmachines.Oncethetaskiscreated,
thetaskisperformedevenifyounolongerhavepermission
toperformthetask.
