doyouneedtodownloadtheCD‐ROMimageorburnaphysicalCD‐ROMofthis
imagefile.
WhenyouchoosetoinstallVMwareTools,VMwareVirtualCentertemporarily
connectsthevirtualmachine’sfirstvirtualCD‐ROMdiskdriveto
theISOimagefile
thatcontainstheVMwareToolsinstallerforyourguestoperatingsystem.Youareready
tobegintheinstallationprocess.
To install or upgrade VMware Tools on a Windows Guest
1Openaconsoletothevirtualmachine.
2Poweronthevirtualmachine.
3Aftertheguestoperatingsystemstarts,right‐clickthevirtualmachineandchoose
InstallVMwareTools
.
4Frominsidethevirtualmachine,clickOKtoconfirmthatyouwanttoinstall
VMwareToolsandlaunchtheInstallShieldwizard.
 Ifyouhaveautorunenabledinyourguestoperatingsystem(thedefault
settingforWindowsoperatingsystems),adialogboxappears.
 Ifautorunisnotenabled,runtheVMwareToolsinstaller.ClickStart>Run
andenterD:\setup.exe,whereD:isyourfirstvirtualCD‐ROMdrive.
5Followtheonscreeninstructions.
 OnWindowsServer2003,theSVGAdriverisinstalledautomatically,andthe
guestoperatingsystemusesitafteritreboots.
 AfteryouinstallVMwareTools,Windows2000andWindowsXPguest
operatingsystemsmustberebootedtousethenewdriver.
