To create a new virtual machine through the typical path
1FromtheVirtualCenterclient,clickInventoryinthenavigationbarandexpand
theinventoryasneeded.
2Intheinventorylist,
selectthemanagedhosttowhichyouwanttoaddthenew
virtualmachine.
TheSummarytabforthehostappears.
3 ChooseFile>New>VirtualMachine.
TheNewVirtualMachinewizardappears.
4 SelectTypical,andclickNext.
5Typeavirtualmachinename,andclickNext.
Thenameyouenterin
theVirtualMachineNamefieldisthenamethatislisted
intheVirtualCenterclientinventory.Itisalsousedasthenameofthevirtual
machine’sfiles.Thenamecanbeupto80characterslongandmaycontain
alphanumericcharactersandtheunderscore(_)andhyphen
(‐)characters.This
namemustbeuniquewithinthefolder.Namesarecase‐insensitive:thename
ʺmy_vmʺisidenticaltoʺMy_Vmʺ.
6 Selectafolderortherootofadatacenter,andclickNext.
7Iftheresourcepooloptionisavailable,expandthetreeuntilyoulocatethe
resource
poolinwhichyouwanttorunthevirtualmachine,highlightit,andclick
