Step1: checking the Rough Opening • Measure rough opening to confirm the rough opening is the correct size. The rough opening width and height must be at least 1/2” larger than the overall door frame size for proper installation. • Using the level check if the Rough opening is plum and level. Make any adjustments needed to ensure that the rough opening is plum and level and ready to install the door. Step2: Unpack the frame and door using the Knife and hammer • Unwrap the frame using the Knife.
Step3: Preparation • Apply caulk beads along the length of the Threshold and 6” up on both sides. • Make sure to use an exterior grade caulk designed for window and door weatherproofing. • If other waterproofing material such as flashing or waterproofing tape needed please install them before caulking. Step4: Install the door frame into the rough opening • Center the door frame in the rough opening and align with the interior or exterior finish wall surface. • Make sure the threshold is leveled.
Step5: Installing the door • Hold the door on open position, almost 90 degree to the frame • Lift it and align the door hinges with frame hinges. • Slowly lower the door so it can sit on the frame. Step6: Checking • Close the door and check the space between the door and frame all around. Door should be spaced evenly in the frame all around and should sit on the weather strip perfectly.
Step7: Installing the window • Hold the window on open position, almost 90 degree to the frame. • Lift it and align the window hinges with frame hinges. • Slowly lower the window so it can sit on the frame.
