Step3: Preparation
• Apply caulk beads along the length of the Threshold and 6” up on both sides.
• Make sure to use an exterior grade caulk designed for window and door weatherproofing.
• If other waterproofing material such as flashing or waterproofing tape needed please install them
before caulking.
Step4: Install the door frame into the rough opening
• Center the door frame in the rough opening and align with the interior or exterior finish wall surface.
• Make sure the threshold is leveled. use the shim to level it if needed.
• Make sure the side frames are plum in both direction ( inside or outside – Left or right). Use the
shim to plum if needed.
• After making sure the frame is leveled and plumed using a ¼” drill bit, drill into the framing studs
through the existing holes on the frame.
• Screw the frame to the studs using a ¼” x 3” bolts. Please note you can use different length screws
if needed. Place a shim between frame and stud. This will not allow the frame to bend with
tightening the screws.
