WAP Wireless Application Protocol. Handheld devices, low bandwidth,
binary coded, a deck/card metaphor to specify a service. A card is typi-
cally a unit of interaction with the user, that is, either presentation of
information or request for information from the user. A collection of
cards is called a deck, which usually constitutes a service.
WAP Application A collection of WML cards, with the new context attribute set in the
entry card.
WAP service A WML application residing on a web site.
WBMP WAP Bitmap.
WDP Wireless Datagram Protocol.
WML Wireless Markup Language. A markup language used for authoring
services, fulÞlling the same purpose as HyperText Markup Language
(HTML) does on the World Wide Web (WWW). In contrast to HTML,
WML is designed to Þt small handheld devices.
WMLScript WMLScript can be used to enhance the functionality of a service, just
as for example JavaScript may be utilized in HTML. It makes it possi-
ble to add procedural logic and computational functions to WAP-based
services, for example.
