The Radio Network consists of the following parts:
• Core Network
The Core Network (CN) provides call control as well as mobility for, and
localization of, the User Equipment (UE). The CN also interacts with the
RNC and provides support for network features and telecommunication
services. The CN handles both packet-oriented services, such as data,
and circuit-oriented services, such as speech.
• RAN
RAN provides the connection between the CN and the User Equipment
(UE). RAN also comprises interfaces towards different management
systems.
