regularly replaced parts before disassembly. If the life of any part is found almost
expired, communicate with the user to that effect. If the user's consent is obtained,
replace also the relevant service parts with new ones.
4.1.4 Making a Special Tool for CSIC Board
The CSIC board (refer to p.85) can be easily removed by using a special tool. The
method for making the tool is described below.
1. Prepare a handle part of a clip, or a similar metal wire piece.

2. Bend the metal wire as shown below.

4.1.5 How to Unlock the Carriage
 Some of the disassembling operations require unlocking the carriage. In those
cases, carry out any of the following operations to unlock the carriage and move
the carriage to other than its home position.
 Turn the power off forcibly by disconnecting the power cable when the CR
Unit becomes unlocked and moves away from the home position.
 Until the carriage is unlocked, turn the EJ Roller gear on the left side of the
printer in the direction of the arrow as shown in Fig. 4-3.

Be extremely careful not to damage the EJ Roller gear. Extra care
must be taken to avoid injury from sharp metal edges.
