The corneal Aeshesiometer for rapid corneal sensitivity examinations
Should be based upon the principle of pressure transmitted axially by a nylon monofilament, of known diameter
but of variable length, for a given bending stress.
The length of the thread like mono-filament, controlled by the forefinger should range from 60mm to 5mm.
A scale on the Aesthesiometer instrument should indicate the length of the monofilament.
When not in use, the tip of the monofilament should be retractable into its body.
