Factory Settings
The printer’s factory settings are stored in the EEPROM on the main board. Therefore, if you replace the main
board, you must restore the settings using the adjustment program.
CAUTION
When using the adjustment program, do not select any options that are not described in this manual. The
adjustment program is the same as the check program used in the factory and includes many options that
are not needed for service. If you select options other than those indicated in this manual, the printer may go
into an error state and need to be reset.
The new factory settings are saved only after printing a test pattern, as described in the instructions below.
Do not turn the printer off or exit the adjustment program until you have first printed a test pattern.
1.
Connect the printer to the host computer with a parallel interface cable.
2.
Place continuous paper in the printer, according to the model indicated below:
FX-880: 10-inch wide paper
FX-1180: 15-inch wide paper

Run the adjustment program on the host computer.
4.
The printhead wire select menu appears. Press or to select 9 pins from the list, and press Enter.
5.
The market setting menu appears. Referring to Table 4-3, press or to select your market from the list and
press Enter. If you need to change your selection, press Esc to display the market setting menu again. An
example (for EAI) is shown below:
