3. A fatal error condition is caused by either a carriage jam or an improper voltage sensed by the power
supply.
Motors
You can use a multimeter to make sure the PF and CR motor coils are good. To check the motors,
disconnect their cables from CN8 and CN9 on the main board, and clip the meter’s leads directly to the
exposed wires on the ends of the cables. The table below shows the expected resistance values for each
motor. When replacing a cable, be sure to insert its red wire at pin 1.
