Cleaning the Platen
Periodically (about once a month) clean the platen by
doing the following procedure.
A
Turn the printer off and make sure that
nothing is displayed on the screen, and then
unplug the power cable from the outlet.
B
Leave the printer for a minute after removing
the power plug.
C
Open the front cover.
c
Important:
Never touch the rollers inside the printer
during cleaning. Doing so may cause
soiled prints and other problems.
Do not touch the ink tubes inside the
printer because doing so may cause a
failure.
Do not rub the pads for borderless
printing. Doing so may cause the pads to
become detached.
D
Use a soft cloth to remove any dust or dirt from
the platen.
Thoroughly wipe the area shown in blue in the
illustration below. To avoid spreading the dirt,
wipe from the inside to the outside.
For stubborn dirt, clean it using a soft cloth
that has been dampened with a small amount
of neutral detergent and then thoroughly
wrung out. Then, dry off the inside of the
printer with a dry, soft cloth.
E
If any paper particles (resemble white powder)
have accumulated in the holes shown in the
illustration below, use a pointed object such as
a toothpick to push them in.
F
After cleaning, close the front cover.
