Use these guidelines to locate information about your system:
Serial number:
System
BIOS
version:
System
configuration:
MS-DOS version:
Software versions:
CONFIG.SYS:
AUTOEXEC.BAT:
Look on the back panel of the
computer to find the serial number.
Restart your system. You’ll see the
system BIOS version
number
displayed on the screen when your
system performs
power-on
diagnostics.
Start SETUP
and select the System
Summary option to see your
system’s configuration.
At
the
MSDOS prompt, type VER
and press
Enter
to see the MS-DOS
version number.
In Windows applications, select
About from the Help menu. As
your software application starts, it
usually displays a version
number
on the
banner screen. Also, you can
check your software manual.
At the MS-DOS prompt, type
C:\TYPE CONFIG.SYS and press
Enter to see a listing
of your
CONFIG.SYS file, which contains
system configuration commands.
At the MS-DOS prompt, type
C:\TYPE AUTOEXEC.BAT and
press
Enter to see a listing of your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file,
which
contains system
startup commands.
