FX Emulation
Font selection
Most newer Epson FX printers have a selection of Roman and Sans
Serif fonts available. Your FX emulation features the Courier font
only. (A smaller, Line Printer font is automatically selected when
you choose Condensed printing.) Other font selections from font
cartridges or downloaded soft fonts are not available.
12 cpi printing
When 12 character per inch (cpi) printing is selected, the Epson FX
emulation uses the 10 cpi Courier typeface and adjusts the
intercharacter spacing to create 12 cpi printing.
Initialization command
Because the printer processes a full page of data at once, the
initialization command (ESC @) prints any data in the buffer and
ejects the page. If your software program uses ESC @ in the middle
of the page, the page ejects and the rest of the data prints on the next
page. For this reason, ESC @ should only be used at the beginning or
end of a page.
SelecType orientation selection
The FX emulation lets you select portrait (vertical) or landscape
(horizontal) orientation from SelecType. Most software expects
portrait orientation, so be sure your software’s margin settings are
set appropriately if you select landscape orientation with SelecType.
Landscape orientation also may require more memory than portrait
orientation. An optional memory board is available if more memory
is required.
