FX Emulation
Paper handling and application software setup
Epson FX printers are designed to print on continuous forms and
cut sheet paper. Your printer cannot print on continuous forms, but
with an FX emulation selected, your ActionLaser Plus is similar to
an FX printer with an optional cut sheet feeder.
Your application software may have to be set up for this difference.
Select an Epson FX printer driver and use your software’s Cut Sheet
Feeder selection, if available. If such a selection is not available, set
up your software to send a Form Feed command at the end of each
page. This is important because the ActionLaser Plus requires a
Form Feed command before it prints a page.
It is also important to be sure the number of printable lines per page
your application software is sending matches the number of
printable lines per page available on your printer. The number of
printable lines per page for your printer can be found by performing
a status print test from the control panel and checking Text Length.
The recommended length for letter size paper is 62 lines per page,
with Skip-Over Perforation set to ON using SelecType. You may
also need to adjust the Top of Form (top margin) setting for your
printer or your application software, since a top margin is
automatically added to your printed output.
Note: To perform the status print test, set your printer off line,
then press the and buttons on the control panel at the same
time. When you release the buttons,
STATUS PRINT appears on
the display and the printer outputs the status print test.
Memory requirements
If you print standard text, such as with a typical word processing
program, you should have no problems with memory. If you use
graphic applications, however, you may need to add an optional
memory board to your printer.
